On Friday 10th July, the Thirroul Butchers Rugby League Football Club proudly hosted its Sportsman’s Luncheon at Club Thirroul — and what an afternoon it turned out to be. With more than 200 attendees filling the room, the event brought together sponsors, supporters, past players, and members of the wider Thirroul Butchers community for a memorable celebration of rugby league and club spirit.
The event was guided by the Dave Stanley, whose hosting kept the afternoon flowing with energy, humour, and plenty of laughs. The luncheon featured an outstanding roster of rugby league personalities:
- Mark “Spud” Carroll
- Andrew Johns
- Dean Young
- Ryan Couchman
- Toby Couchman
Each speaker brought their own flavour — from sharp humour and classic footy stories to insights into the modern game and reflections on their careers. Their presence was a highlight for many in the room, and their generosity with time and stories made the afternoon truly special.
Beyond the entertainment, the luncheon served as a reminder of what makes the Thirroul Butchers so strong — a committed community, loyal sponsors, and a shared passion for rugby league. Events like this reinforce the club’s connection across generations and help support the ongoing success of our teams both on and off the field.
Thank you to everyone who attended.
Up the Butchers!
